Methods and experimental work in Bio4Bio

The approach of the research is to do an integrated technological development of both the biomass feedstock and the microbial proteins needed to break down the biomass as well as the impact of the individual process steps. The experimental work in Bio4Bio is organized in 5 interconnected work packages with a central core of screening and analytical techniques. 

Experimental work with a central core of screening and analytical techniques

WP1 feeds highly diversified biomass to screening and analysis (WP2). WP2 is the core of the experimental approach, with an integrated high throughput screening and structural analysis. Optimal biomass candidates are selected for targeting the work on protein discovery (WP3) and knowledge on their structural characteristics is used for functional genomics (WP4). New proteins for hydrolysis and gene constructs from WP 3 and 4 are tested and validated in WP2. Testing, verification and technology transfer through up-scaling is done in WP5.
